About us
Baron Knyphausen was originally founded in 1141 and is since 1818 in the ownership of the Knyphausen family. Situated in the Rheingau/Germany, we grow excellent Riesling and Pinot Noir along the shores of the River Rhine on 17ha of vineyards.
We are currently in the transformation process to an organic winery.
For us, making wine means creating something in harmony with nature and with respect for craftsmanship and tradition, bringing purity to the glass and observing nature at the same time.
Even if the winery and our offer have grown over the years, we have remained a family business to this day.
Frederik zu Knyphausen took over the winery from his father in the 8th generation. Since then, the winemaker has accompanied the most charming wines in the Rheingau. Everyone lovingly takes care of the vineyards and the traditional estate.
Together with a small, fine team, the family ensures that the traditional company continues to grow and is successful.

Products & Services
As a German winery, we are focussing on traditional German grape varieties, such as Riesling and Pinot Noir. We offer all qualities from your everyday Estate Wines all the way to awarded Grand Crus.
We have offer fresh, mineralic and dry Rieslings, as they are typical to the Rheingau, but we also still have very full
bodied aged sweet varieties of the Riesling on stock.
